International Women’s Day 2024: Every woman should know at least these 10 rights


Like every year, this time too, Women’s Day will be celebrated in India on March 8, like all over the world. However, during the last decades, the condition of half the population in the country has become much better than before. But many reforms are still needed to make the society such that women can walk fearlessly. In such a situation, the Indian Constitution has given many such rights to women, which can make their fight for equality easier. According to the Equal Remuneration Act, women have the right to get equal pay for equal work. The Indian Constitution ensures that there cannot be any discrimination in the matter of salary, remuneration or wages on the basis of gender.

Indian law dictates that if a woman is accused of a criminal offence, her medical examination should be conducted by or in the presence of another woman. So that the right to dignity of a woman cannot be violated under any circumstances. This provision protects the privacy of women and ensures respectful treatment in legal processes.

Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 

This Act Gives women the right to lodge complaints against any type of sexual harassment at the workplace. The Act also advocates setting up internal complaint committees to resolve complaints, which can create a safe workplace for women. Article 498 of the Indian Constitution
